Must be 21+ years old. Must have a current, valid Oklahoma driver's license. Performs journeyman level skilled tasks in maintaining, servicing, repairing, and installing equipment and components related to all electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, and mechanical systems. Performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled tasks in the care and maintenance of the Oklahoma County Juvenile Bureau building and equipment and related work. Responds to concerns and complaints from building occupants.Must be in possession of a current mechanical/electrical journeyman license and or contractor license. Must maintain current and appropriate active licenses to work with electrical systems. Must have a local cellular telephone number where employee can be reached.Works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. May work under the supervision of the County Engineer and other County maintenance staff on special projects as needed. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Performs routine electrical maintenance, replacement or alteration of circuit wiring of building equipment such as appliances, fixtures, alarm relays and generators. Checks and calibrates safety controls and overloads. Performs and records readings from various electrical equipment. Performs regular maintenance on tools and equipment to include cleaning and storing. Records inspections and keeps detailed maintenance logs. Checks operating logs with unit operators and discusses general use of the machinery and equipment. Reports to the operator any uncorrected deficiencies noted. Performs diagnostic testing and servicing of building plumbing units. Work may include identifying, repairing or replacing plumbing systems including: faucets, toilets, valves, plumbing lines, water heaters, snaking plumbing lines and other related plumbing equipment. Performs semi-skilled and skilled work in assembling, installing or repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, or drainage systems. Understands emergency evacuation plan for building, and performs duties assigned in said plan. On-call status: Must be able to respond (be on site) to calls within one hour of receiving call. Works from all types of ladders.
