OBO Custom built terrarium in Oklahoma City, OK

$500 OBO Custom built terrarium

This is a custom built terrarium that used to house my Ball Python and Red Tail Boa, then the novelty of snakes wore off so I donated the snakes and no longer need the cage.Cage comes apart in three pieces, the hood, cage, and base. The entire thing is 64" tall, 60" wide, 24" deep put together.Hood -- This part is very light weight, comes with a power strip that has several timer settings for day/night and some plugs that stay on full time for a heating element. It comes with 4, basic lights and a heating element that will keep the cage around 80 by itself, I usually added a couple of incandescent bulbs to get the temp up on one side. The hood is built in such a way that it overlaps the top of the cage by about 1/4 of an inch to ensure that it cannot just be pushed off by accident.Cage -- This part is constructed to keep large snakes IN! The sides and front are each one solid piece of glass. Each side is equipped with a door that has a very solid, stainless steel, latch. The doors swing to the back, which is normally against a wall, to make it easier to reach in the cage. There are temperature strips on each door and in the center and there is a humidity strip in the center as well. The top is chicken wire, again built for large snakes so a skinny snake might be able to get through, however it is fastened on extremely well and tight. The bottom of the cage is now coated with a very thick acrylic paint to prevent damage to the wood. I had originally put 6 coats of polyurethane thinking that would do the trick but after a year the moisture began seeping into the wood. I peeled a couple of layers of the 3/4 inch plywood off where it was moldy, dried and treated it then coated it with the acrylic paint, which is made to seal driveways... so it works well. The cage has a lip on the bottom so that it rests snugly into the base and requires lifting to get it out, that way it cannot be pushed off by accident.Base -- This has lots of room for storage so you don't have to scatter your reptiles stuff all over. It has two doors that swing out by stainless steel handles. The entire cage is stained and sealed very well and looks 'beautiful' if I must say so myself.Extras -- This price also includes two watering dishes, a branch, and two hides.I have just under $400 in materials just to build the cage, that does not account for the extras, heating element, power strip, or time building it. $500 is a really fair price but I may entertain other offers depending on how long this takes to move. You haul it! I will help you get it in the truck though...
